Amasa Holcomb

BiographyAmasa Holcomb was born on 18 June 1787 in Southwick, Massachusetts. On 8 November 1808, he married Gillett Kendall of Granby, Connecticut. Holcomb was a civil engineer, surveyor, and maker of optical instruments. He made and sold surveying instruments, including chains, compasses, and small transit telescopes, as well as larger telescopes for the use of astronomers. He died in Southwick on 27 February 1873.
