Thomas Sedgwick Steele

BiographyThomas Sedgwick Steele was born in Hartford, Connecticut on 11 June 1845. He was an avid outdoorsman, writer, and artist. In the 1880s, he published Canoe and Camera and Paddle and Portage, including the first map ever issued specifically for the use of canoeists. Later in life, he focussed on paintings of wildlife, especially fish. He died in Swampscott, Massachusetts on 9 September 1903.
