Julius Bien

BiographyJulius Bien was born in Cassel, Germany, on 27 September 1826. He emigrated to the United States in 1849, after participating in the Revolution of 1848. He began working in New York City as a lithographer and cartographer. Much of his work in cartography was done for the United States government. He was also known for his color lithography and chromolithography. He died on 21 December 1909.
