Mabel Harlakenden

BiographyAccording to information in object file 1937.6.1, Mabel Harlakenden was born on 27 September 1614 at Earle's Colne Priory, England, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Hobart) Harlakenden. She came to America with her brother Roger on 4 July 1635 in the ship Defence. She married Governor John Haynes of Cambridge, Massachusetts about 1636. John Haynes was the first governor of Connecticut, and died in March of 1654. Mabel married second, Samuel Eaton, son of Governor Theophilus Eaton of New Haven, on 17 November 1654. It is said that both she and her second husband died in 1655 within two days of each other. She had four children by her first husband.
