Jacob Weidenmann

BiographyThe landscape architect Jacob Weidenmann was born in Winterthur, Switzerland and traveled widely before coming to the United States in 1856. He was the first superintendant of parks in Hartford and designed Bushnell Park, Cedar Hill Cemetery, and the grounds of the American School for the Deaf and the Institute of Living. He collaborated with Frederick Law Olmsted on projects including Mount Royal Park in Montreal and the grounds of the United States Capitol in Washington.
