Solomon Wills

BiographySolomon Willes was born 14 October 1731, the son of Joshua Wills (d.1767) and Melicent [or Millicent] Yeomans Wills (d.1737). He married Elizabeth Lathrop (b. 1740) on 24 February 1763. They had seven children, four girls: Roxalana (1763-1780), Nancy (b. 1765), Elizabeth (b. 1767), and Melicent (b. 1769); and three boys: Azariah (b. 1772), Solomon (b. 1775), and Wareham (b. 1780).
Solomon served as a private in the French and Indian War about 1756, rising to sergeant, second lieutenant, and first lieutenant. He served in the Revolutionary War, rising to the rank of Colonel.
After the war, he became a selectman of the town of Tolland. He was also a justice of the peace, an Associate Judge of Tolland County Court, and a member of the General Assembly for twenty-three sessions.
He died on 10 December 1807, aged seventy-six years.
