Lucy Foote

American, 1798 - 1875
BiographyLucy Foote was born in Colchester, Connecticut, on 18 July 1798. She was the daughter of Captain Aaron (1744-1824) and Mary Isham Foote (1774-1804). On 28 February 1821, Lucy married Merrit Bradford of Canterbury, Connecticut, the oldest son of Elizabeth Merritt (1758-1841) and Josiah Bradford (1757-1796), a farmer in Canterbury. The Bradfords moved to Newburgh, New York, where Merrit Bradford taught in an academy. They had three children: John Merrit Bradford (b. 1823, moved to Nebraska); Mary Elizabeth (b. 1827, never married); and Margaret Bigelow (b. 1853, married Horatio W. Otis and lived in Yonkers, New York). Lucy Foote Bradford died in Newburgh, New York, on 16 April 1875.
