BiographyHelen Elizabeth Royce was born 11 October 1873 in Windsor, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Lucien Merriman Royce and Emma Gratia Hollister. Her sister was Lucy Atwater Royce (1876-1928). Helen Elizabeth Royce taught at the Brown School in Hartford for many years. Helen and Lucy lived together in Hartford and maintained their ancestral home, the Nehemiah Royce house, in Wallingford, Connecticut. They also ran a small summer antiques business at several locations near the Connecticut shore for many years. Helen Elizabeth Royce became a member of the Connecticut Historical Society in 1950, and she donated many objects that had descended in her family, as well as items that she acquired elsewhere. She is buried at Elm Grove Cemetery in Windsor.
