Carolyn Brewster Taylor

BiographyCarolyn Brewster Taylor was born on 23 July 1883, the only daughter of Edwin P. Taylor (20 August 1849-July 1924) and his wife Carrie A. Lincoln. She attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington and was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. Carolyn never married. She lived in Hartford and West Hartford. She was involved in several Hartford area organizations including the Connecticut Society of Colonial Dames, the Woman's exchange, and the Hartford Conservatory, of which whe was a charter member. Carolyn Taylor gave the Society a number of donations during her lifetime, including textiles, costumes, and photographs. Through her sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy R. Taylor, the Society received from Miss Taylor's estate a 1923 Louis Orr etching of Pont St. Denis, Paris; a mahogany and pine music stand; a pastel portrait on paper of Sarah Kinne Taylor, done around 1861 by Matthew Wilson; and an oil portrait of Frank Howard Lincoln painted in 1865 by William R. Wheeler. She had three brothers, Morgan Welles Taylor (14 May 1895-June 1984), Edwin P. Taylor, Jr. (baptized 22 February 1879), and Charles Lincoln Taylor (10 September 1875-30 March 1944). Carolyn died in July of 1986, four days before her 103rd birthday.
