Abigail Pendleton

Abigail Pendleton was born 10 January 1792* in Stonington, the daughter of Charles Pendleton (1762-1802) and Abigail Rhodes (1771-1851). Her father, Charles, was born in Westerly, Rhode Island and died at sea on 28 August 1802. She married Francis Amy (d.1863). They had the following children, all of whom were baptized in the First Church, Stonington: William Palmer (1823-1859), Caroline Pendleton (1823-1860), Sarah Palmer (b. 1824), Henry (b. 1825), Elizabeth Niles (b. 1828), Harriet Swan (b. 1827), Abby Pendleton (d. 1864), Gurdon Hyde (d. 1857) plus seven additional children who died in infancy. Abigail Pendleton died in Providence, Rhode Island on 31 January 1869. She is buried with her children and husband in the Stonington Borough Cemetery.

*The Pendleton family genealogy states that Abigial Pendleton was born 10 January 1794. However, the register that she probably embroidered states that she was born 10 January 1792.
