Martha Dandridge

BiographyMartha Dandridge was born in May 1732. She the daughter of John Dandridge of New Kent, Virginia. Her first husband was Colonel Daniel Parke Custis; they had two children. Her second husband was George Washington (1732-1799), Commanding General of American Revolutionary forces and first President of the United States. They married on 6 January 1759, then settled at Washington's farm at Mount Vernon, where both were later buried. Martha Dandridge Custis Washington died 22 May 1802.
