Ebenezer Punderson

American, 1735 - 1809
BiographyEbenezer Punderson was born in Groton, Connecticut on 28 September 1735. He was the son of Reverend Ebenezer and Hannah Minor Punderson. Ebenezer Punderson graduated from Yale College in 1755 and received an M.A. from Kings's College (the present Columbia University) in 1758. He married Prudence Geer, daughter of Ebenezer and Prudence Wheeler Geer, on 21 September 1757, in Groton, Connecticut. They had eight children. Ebenezer Punderson was a teacher for a few years before becoming a store keeper in Preston, Connecticut. During the Revolution, he was an ardent Loyalist and fled to Long Island and England. He returned to Preston in 1784 and resumed his mercantile career. Ebenezer Punderson died in Preston, Connecticut on 6 April 1809.
