BiographyAnn Bates was born 17 November 1744 in Haddam, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Abigail Parsons Bates (1714-1791) and Samuel Bates (1712-1750). She had two brothers and one sister. Ann Bates married Jonathan Walkley (d. 1819) in Durham, Connecticut, on 17 September 1767; they had six daughters and one son. Shortly before 1787, Jonathan Walkley moved the family to Granville, Massachusetts. They remained there until he purchased land in Southington, Connecticut, on 4 April 1791. Ann Bates Walkley died 24 November 1809.
