Esther Carrington

American, 1766 - 1855
BiographyEsther Carrington was born 1 March 1766 in Milford. She was the daughter of Doctor Elias Carrington (1734-1800), a native of New Haven, and Esther Northrup (1744-1817). She married on 10 September 1787, at the First Congregational Church in Milford, the Reverend Isaac Foster, pastor of the Congregational Church of Great Barrington, Massachusetts. By 1790, Reverend Foster had been dismissed from the Great Barrington ministry due to insufficient funds. He subsequently became pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Pittsgrove, Salem County, New Jersey, where he died in 1794. Esther Carrington Foster appeared in the 1850 census for her home town of Milford, Connecticut, whewre she died in 1855. She was buried in the Milford Center Cemetery with her nephew Nelson Carrington and his wife.
