Knoll International

The Knoll company was founded in 1938 by Hans Knoll (1914-1955, Germany) as the Hans G. Knoll Furniture Associates in New York. In 1946, he married designer Florence Schust (1917-), and the company name changed to Knoll Associates. The company focused specifically on products that exhibited design excellence and were appropriate for mass production. In 1950, the company's headquarters moved to Pennsylvania. Hans Knoll died in 1955, and Florence Knoll left the company in 1965.
