BiographyHenry I. Brown was the son of Daniel Brown. He was born about 1813, and he died before 1870. Henry Brown can be found in the 1850 and 1860 censuses for Lynchburg, Campbell County, Virginia. In 1850, he was listed as a farmer and slave owner with land valued at $8800; in 1860, he was listed as a lawyer with real estate valued at $6000 and a personal estate of $35,000. Henry Brown's wife was named Lucy. They had at least two daughters, Bettie C. Brown (b. about 1840) and Mary A. Brown (b. about 1844). After Henry Brown's death, Lucy Brown lived as a widow with her daughters in Brookville Township, Campbell County, Virginia.
