George Belden
American, 1770 - 1838
BiographyGeorge Belden (1770-1838) apprenticed in Hartford under the supervision of Aaron Chapin. He is known to have signed furiture while working for Chapin and after opening his own shop in Windsor in 1793 (for his only known advertisement, see the Connecticut Courant, 5/6/1793). In 1796 George Belden married Hannah Porter (1775-1834) of Windsor brought him into the extended families of joiners and cabinetmakers.
