Governor John Harper TrumbullAmerican, 1873 - 1961

John Harper Trumbull of Plainville, Connecticut, was born 4 March 1873. He was the son of Mary Ann Harper Trumbull and Hugh Trumbull. He married Maud Usher, and they had three children. John Trumbull was the director of the Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company.

John H. Trumbull was a Republican, who served as a Connecticut delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1920, 1928, 1932, and 1936. He became Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut in 1925. When Governor Hiram Bingham died after serving a single day in office in January 1925, John H. Trumbull became Governor of Connecticut; he served from 1925-1931. Governor Trumbull was a member of the Freemasons and the Shriners. He died 21 May 1961, and he is buried at West Cemetery in Plainville, Connecticut.
