BiographyRuth Eliza Tuttle was the daughter of Aaron Tuttle (1760-1831) and Martha Woodin of Hamden (d. 1814). Ruth Eliza was born 25 November 1790 in Hamden, Connecticut, and died unmarried at Utica, New York, on 5 October 1840. While still living in Connecticut, Ruth Eliza Tuttle taught needlework. One of her students was Sally Doolittle (b. 1806) of Wallingford, Connecticut.
