BiographyJacob Whitmore was born in Middletown in May 1736. Although it is not known where he apprenticed, he may have learned the trade in New York or Boston. He began working in 1757 or 1758 and retired from the pewter business sometime in the 1790s. Jacob Whitmore died in September 1825 at the age of 89.
