BiographySarah (Sally) Thurston Bliss was born 11 September 1790 in Newport, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Sarah Casey Thurston Bliss and Thomas Ward Bliss. She taught needlework; one of her students was Abigail Gavitt (b. 1803). Sarah Bliss married Paul Stillman, son of Joseph Stillman, in Westerly, Rhode Island, on 18 November 1807.
