BiographyAmelia Hopkins was born 23 September 1828. She was the daughter of Abiah Woodruff Hopkins (1796-1842) and John Hopkins (1793-1859) of Naugatuck, Connecticut (previously known as Salem Society or Salem Bridge). Her father was a farmer. She was educated in Naugatuck (called Salem), Connecticut, by Mary Hotchkiss (later Mrs. Wales B. Lounsbury). Amelia Hopkins died on 24 October 1842; her mother died the following day.
