Jehiel Meigs

Jehiel Meigs was born 6 April 1777, the son of Sergeant Daniel Meigs and Chloe Scranton Meigs, his first wife. He lived in Savannah, Georgia, for a time, where he worked in the mercantile business with his brothers and brother-in-law. It is unknown if Jehiel Meigs ever married or had children. He is the uncle of Catherine Millicent Webb Meigs (Mrs. Vincent Meigs). Jehiel Meigs returned to Madison, Connecticut, where he died on 3 April 1812. He is buried there, in Hammonasset Cemetery.
