BiographyAnna H. Sabin was born on 24 July 1785 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Sabin and his first wife, Sally Dyer Sabin. She married Asa Jillson in Providence, Rhode Island, on 2 April 1807. Her husband founded both a cotton mill and a dynasty of cotton manufacturers. He was the son of an inventor who successfully adapted hand looms to water power; Asa Jillson, in his turn, manufactured machinery for cotton mills. The Jillsons had nine children, two of whom are Elizabeth Camilla and William Lawrence. They lived in Dorchester, Massachusetts, from 1811 to 1828 and in Willimantic, Connecticut after that. Anna H. Sabin Jillson died on 24 October 1868 in New London, Connecticut. She was 83.
