BiographyThe Union Glass Company was founded in 1854 by president Francis Houghton, treasurer Amory Houghton, and J. P. Gregory, all of whom were directors. They manufactured a variety of products: tablewares, lighting devices, kerosene lamps, lamp chimeys, glass globes, and shades in blown, mold-blown, pressed, and silvered glass. At the turn of the century, it was one of the outstanding producers of glass in the Art Nouveau style.
