Cornelia Whitney Polhemus

BiographyCornelia Whitney Polhemus was born 19 October 1839, the daughter of Rev. Abraham and Eliza B. Heyer Polhemus. In 1858, Cornelia married Oliver Ellsworth Coff (b. 1833) of New York City. Oliver graduated from Yale College in 1853 after a year at the Phillips Academy; he graduated the Union Theological Seminary of New York in 1857. He was ordained and installed pastor of the Reformed Dutch Church of Hopewell, Dutchess County, New York in 1857. This was the same church of which Cornelia's father had also been pastor. Oliver remained there as pastor until 1872, when he was made pastor of the Reformed Dutch Church of Flushing, New York. Cornelia Whitney Polhemus Coff died on 3 January 1917.
