BiographyEliza Brodhead Heyer was born in New York City on 8 July 1815. She was the daughter of Isaac and Jane Snydam Heyer. In 1835, she married Abraham Polhemus, who was born at Astoria, Long Island in 1812. Abraham graduated from Rutgers College and the New Brunswick Seminary; was pastor of the Old Dutch Church at Hopewell, Dutchess County, New York; and organizer and first minister of the North Reformed Church in Newark, New Jersey. Eliza Brodhead Heyer Polhemus died 29 April 1901.
