Alexander Jackson DavisAmerican, 1803 - 1892

Alexander Jackson Davis was born in New York City and studied at the American Academy of Fine Arts and the National Academy of Design. In 1826, he joined the firm of Ithiel Town, and from 1829 to 1839, Town and Davis were partners, designing buildings in a variety of revival styles. Davis went on to become one of the most influential and important 19th-century American architects. He died in West Orange, New Jersey.
