John Collings

John Collings (1843-1908) was born in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1852. He appears in several records in Southington, Connecticut. In the 1870 Southington Census (p. 89), he is listed as a saloon keeper. In the 1876 Southington Directory and the 1880 Southington Census (p.3), he is a grocer. In the

1882 Southington Directory, he advertised as a dealer of fine groceries, provisions, crockery, wooden ware, etc. at 51 Main Street, Plansville, Connecticut. In the 1900 Southington Census, he is listed as a grocer who was born in Ireland, has been married for thirty years, and who immigrated to the United States in 1852.
