BiographyGeorge Benton and Levi Stuart were two retired sea captains who took over Peter Cross's business on Front Street in Hartford. By 1818 or 1822 Benton and Stuart had sold their pottery to their manager Daniel Goodale, Jr, so their stoneware dates to about 1815.
