Goodwin & Webster

American, 1810 - 1840
BiographyHorace Goodwin and Mack C. Webster purchased Peter Cross's earthenware shop on the northeast corner of Potter and Front Streets. In 1831, they purchased the pottery associated with the shop. They had acquired numerous pieces of land in the area and established the first successful manufactory of stoneware in Hartford. Goodwin was no longer in the firm after 1840, when M. C. Webster & Son appears in the Hartford City Directories.

The generally accepted dates for the Goodwin & Webster company is about 1810 to 1840. However, their working dates are 1831-1840, the decade that they were manufacturing ceramics.
