Buffalo PotteryAmerican, 1901 - 1956

The Buffalo Pottery was founded in 1901 by William J. Rea; the first kiln was fired in 1903. Products were completely molded, either by jiggering or casting, and were decorated both underglaze and overglaze. Until around 1916, the company made semi-vitreous ware, and vitrified china after. In 1956, the company name officially changed to the Buffalo China Company. Buffalo China now makes only hotel and institutional wares.

Clues to dating Buffalo china: customer's names were not used as part of the mark after the 1930s.
