BiographyCharles Field Haviland (1832-1896) worked at Limoges with his uncle David Haviland (1814-1879) in 1852; began a competing porcelain decorating business at Limoges with his uncle Richard in 1859; formed a new company with his father in 1865; founded Charles Field Haviland & Co. in 1870; took control of the Alluaud factory in 1876. In 1881, the firm became GDM (Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel) with a mark of "CFH / GDM". In 1902 the firm became GDA (Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbott), with a mark of "GDA/FRANCE".
