BiographyJonathan Corwin was the second son of Captain George Corwin and Elizabeth Herbert White Corwin. He lived in Salem, Massachusetts, with his wife, Elizabeth Sheafe Gibbs Corwin. Jonathan Corwin was a merchant, owning lumber mills in Wells, Maine. He was also a politician, serving in Salem, Massacusetts, as a justice of the court of common pleas and a probate judge. Jonathan Corwin served as the judge for the Salem Witch Trials of 1692; the trials took place in his home.
