BiographyTheodore Haviland (c. 1842-1919) was the son and partner of David Haviland, founder of Haviland & Co. When that partnership dissolved he built his own factory in 1892 and formed Haviland & Co (La Porcelaine Theodore Haviland). [His brother, Charles Edward operated under the name Haviland & Co.] Theodore's son, William David, took over the operation of the firm in 1919. He began making china in the U.S. in 1936. In 1941 he bought all marks, models, and rights from Haviland & Co, thus reuniting the company under the name Haviland S.A.
