BiographyJohn McClellan Sr. was born in Woodstock, Connecticut on 4 January 1767. He married Faith Williams (b. Lebanon, Sept. 29, 1775, d. Woodstock Apr. 25, 1838), the daughter of Hon. William Williams (a signer of the Declaration of Independence) and Faith Trumbull (daughter of Gov. Jonathan Trumbull). John was a Major of Militia in the Revolution. He graduated from Yale in 1785, and was selectman, and a member of the Legislature for twenty years. He and Faith had six children.
