E. T. Whitney

BiographyE. T. Whitney was born in New York about 1820. According to the imprint on the back of a cabinet card in the John Craig Collection, he first established himself as a photographer in Rochester, New York in 1846. He worked in New York City in 1860 and 1877. He was a partner in the photographic firm of Whitney & Beckwith in Norwalk, Connecticut from about 1865 to 1871. Whitney apparently continued in business on his own in Norwalk through 1880, then moved to Wilton, where he continued in business until 1886.
