Esther Lyman

American, 1750 - 1828
BiographyEsther Lyman was born 4 July 1750 in Coventry, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Esther Clark Lyman (1730-1818) and Dr. Elijah Lyman (1727-1786). She married Stephen Howard (1747- about 1796) in 1782 in Coventry. They had two daughters: Elizabeth (Mrs. Samuel Whitman) (1790-1888) and Esther (Mrs. Selah Loomis). Esther Lyman Howard lived in Tolland after her marriage, but after the disappearance of her husband, she moved back to her mother's home in Coventry, Connecticut. In 1807, the Lyman house was sold, and Esther Lyman Howard and her mother moved to Marlborough, Vermont, to live with a son. In 1814, the son died. Esther Lyman Howard's son-in-law, Selah Loomis, moved the two ladies back to Coventry to live in his home. Esther Lyman Howard died 6 October 1828 in Coventry, Connecticut.
