Hitchcock, Alford and Company

BiographyLambert Hitchcock (1795-1852) partnered with his brother in law, Arba Alford, to extablish Hitchcock, Alford and Company in 1832 in Hitchcockville, Riverton, Connecticut. Chairs produced from 1832 until 1843 are identified with the stencil of the firm. Arba Alford became the manager-partner, and while he superintended the manufactory, Lambert Hitchcock focused on sales and distribution. On 15 August 1843 the company was dissolved, and Hitchcock undertook a new venture on the Farmington Canal in 1844.
