BiographyNathaniel Jocelyn was a portrait painter from Connecticut, born 31 January 1796. He painted his first portrait, Isaac Plant, in 1815 at the age of 19, and he painted his last, Doctor Stephen Henry Bronson, when he was almost 85. In 1854, he originated the name American Bank Note Company in partnership as Jocelyn, Draper, Welsh & Company of New York. In 1858, he was one of the founders of the American Bank Note Company of New York. Nathaniel Jocelyn died 13 January 1881.
