BiographyAlbert Pope established the Pope Manufacturing Company in 1890. It was in business in Hartford, Connecticut, and also in Boston, Massachusetts. The company was a manufacturer of bicycles and the Pope-Hartford gasoline automobile and, later, the Columbia Electric. Pope became involved in a lawsuit with Henry Ford; Ford eventually won the case, and Pope became defunct by 1912.
