Rudolphus Colton

Rudolphus Colton was a relative of the prominent Hartford cabinetmaker Aaron Colton (1758-1840), who was a cousin of Aaron Chapin (1753-1838). He was also a relative of Horace Colton (1774-1862), an equally prominent cabinetmaker in Norwich, Connecticut. Rudolphus Colton's signed piece [CHS #1961.45.1] tells us that he was working for the Aaron Chapin & Son firm in 1807.
