Amzi Chapin

Amzi Chapin was a member of the Chapin cabinetmaking family. He was the younger brother of Aaron Chapin (1753-1838) and the second cousin of Eliphalet Chapin (1741-1807). Amzi Chapin worked in Hartford from 1788 until 1791, when he moved to New Haven. Thereafter he embarked on a career as an itinerant singing teacher, composer, and part-time cabinetmaker in the South and Midwest.
