John J. Dwyer1856 - 1911

John J. Dwyer was born in Hartford, one of several children of a carpenter and builder. He began his architectural career as a draughtsman for Oliver H. Easton and leter worked for John C. Mead. After serving as "superintendant" of the office of J.C. Cady & Co. in New York, he returned to Hartford in 1890 as a principal in Barrett Bros. & Co., builders. He opened his own office in Hartford in 1893. John J. McMahon worked for Dwyer and became his partner towards the end of Dwyer's career.
