BiographyBorn 12 February 1809 in a log cabin in Hardin County (now Larue County) Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth President of the United States. He married Mary Todd (1818-1882) on 4 November 1882. They had four sons, but only the oldest, Robert Todd Lincoln, lived to maturity. Abraham Lincold was elected President in the election of 1860; the Civil War erupted a few months later, on 12 April 1861. On the night of 14 April 1865, Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln were at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. President Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth, and died the following day, 15 April 1865.
