BiographyWill Barnet was born in 1911 in Beverly, MA. He came to New York in 1930, became the printer at the Art Students League in 1934, and then a teacher there in 1936. He later taught at the Cooper Union, Yale University, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Barnet is known for his paintings, watercolors, and prints of people and animals. While his early etchings of Norwalk, CT are complex and moody compositions, his mature work is characterized by simple forms and flat colors producing a dreamlike serenity.
