Asaph Willard
1786 - 1880
BiographyWillard, Asaph was born 24 December 1786 in Wethersfield, CT. He studied engraving with Abner Reed and worked as a copperplate, steel, and wood engraver. He was apparently working in Hartford in 1799, , but he later worked for a time in Albany, NY. In 1816, he was back in Hartford, and a member of the Hartford Graphic and Bank Note Engraving Company. He died in Hartford on 14 July 1880 at the age of 93.
