Reynolds Beal

American, 1867 - 1951
BiographyReynolds Beal was born in New York City on 11 October 1867. He began his education at Cornell University, studying naval architecture, then studied art with William Merritt Chase. His extensive travels included the Caribbean Islands, Central America, Asia, the South Seas, and Europe. His oil paintings, watercolors, prints, and drawings are chiefly of maritime subjects. He died in Rockport, Massachusetts in 1951. His brother Gifford Beal was also an artist.
