Daniel Abbe Jr.
Daniel Abbe, Jr. was born in Enfield, Connecticut on 22 August 1775. He was the son of Daniel Sr. and Sarah Pease Abbe. Daniel Jr. married Elizabeth Morrison (1772-1842) of Enfield on 9 or 19 March 1795. They had seven children: Robert Morrison (1795-1797); Robert Morrison (b. 1797); Henry Augustus (b. 1799); Stoddard Nelson (1801-1869); Betsey Allen (1804-1828); Sarah Ann (b. 1806); and Daniel Pease (b. 1809).
Daniel Abbe, Jr. was the scion of an established innkeeping family. His father, Daniel Abbe, Sr., had been licensed from 1773-1804, at a location near the Enfield ferry across the Connecticut River. Daniel Abbe, Jr. succeeded to the family business about 1804. He was unlicensed from 1814-22, but resumed innkeeping at a new site nearer to a new river bridge in 1822. Daniel Abbe, Jr. died on 25 August 1833. His inn presumably passed to two of his sons, Daniel Pease Abbe and Robert Morrison Abbe, who were recorded as innkeepers in the 1830s and 1840s.
