BiographyJohn Davenport Cheney was born in 1870, the son of Mary Bushnell Cheney and Frank Woodbridge Cheney (1832-1909). He had a twin brother named Howell. In the Connecticut State Register and Manual of 1906, John Davenport was listed as a captain of the 1st Connecticut Infantry. He was the quartermaster. Captain Cheney married Mary Wilcox Russell in 1905. They had two children: Jane Davenport Cheney Spock (1906-1989); and Cynthia Russell Cheney Childs (1908-1977). John Davenport Cheney died in 1919.
